Today I was given the task to call a few underwriters to check on our property quote for Fox Rental Car Inc. I was speaking to them on the behalf of Christine. She gave me a paper with information on the quote as well as our target price so that if they have any questions, I’d be able to answer a few of them. However, if there were questions that I couldn’t answer, then I’d request that they call Christine. It was another good experience getting on the phone with these underwriters, forcing myself to be more comfortable talking to them. Today, Travelers stopped by the office as well. We were able to hang out with their interns and do a small presentation on what Gallagher does as well as a little bit of our history. We also did a little activity listing all the things that we do as well as things that we both do as a broker and carrier. Later on after they left, I had a really good talk with Christine. She gave me a lot of advice in regard to Gallagher and what it could provide me if I pick it as a carrier and do really well. We talked about her carrier and how fast it took off. It went really well and we even scheduled a lunch for this Friday. Overall, it was a really good day, and that’s a shock knowing that it was Monday. It felt more like a Wednesday or a Thursday.

We went to Disney studios today. This may be a surprise, but I’m quite the Disney fanatic. I hid my excitement well, but I can’t explain how nice it was going around and being a part of that trip. In the beginning of the trip Steve did a presentation for us talking about what they do as well as their risk management program. He showed a bunch of cute videos that were risk management related, but then showed us videos talking about what movies are coming out soon, and I got so excited. I could barely contain how hyped I was. I even won a mini Grew stuffed animal for answering a question. We then went on a tour of the place being showed where things happen and cool historic artifacts. As you could imagine, I took many pictures. Especially when we got to the area of legend’s hand prints. I had such a good time. That was definitely one of my favorite trips, purely because it was Disney. When we got back, I connected with the underwriters that didn’t answer their phone yesterday. I had a few voicemails from them so I had Christine contact them. She then gave me another project putting in information for Dairy America so that we could create a quote. That ended today, and a great day it was.

Since today is my sister’s birthday, I figured I’d give her a shout out. Today, traffic was abnormally long. I left at a normal time for me, but I was almost late. The day was mostly filled with creating quotes for Fox Rent A Car, but unfortunately the two that I created were declined. The reasons were because of two states that the company is in have a problem with how they work so they wouldn’t accept that quote. I also had an assignment on excel creating loss triangle reports. Honestly, I absolutely love to do work on excel, so this was exciting. I had to take the loss information provided by the company and calculate it into the way we create the triangle report. On a difficult level, this was easy, but it has been a while since I have been on excel, so it was fun. On top of that, even though it was easy, it still took a little time so I got to play on excel for a bit. I sent in the final report to Christine, and she said she will review it later. Realizing that today was Wednesday, I noticed that I haven’t done any journals yet. So I took some time doing Monday and part of Tuesday. I need to hurry up because I do not want to get stuck doing a bunch Friday.

Today was a fun day filled with events and activities. There wasn’t much for me to do in the morning, but we had a fire drill today that went off so everyone evacuated and went in front of the Wells Fargo building. It was fun hanging out with everyone and joking around. However, it was cooking outside, so I was definitely looking for shade where ever we were. After every one was checked out they gave us an In N Out card for a burger and chips. It was nice; except for the fact the line was in the sun and took forever to move. So again, I went under the shade. During lunch I ate inside and chilled with a few other interns. When I went to my room I saw that I was copied into an email with Christine from a guy updating the loss triangle information, because he had it wrong at first. I knew that Christine was going to have me update and change the report when she saw it, so I went ahead and did it, so that when she does, it will already be complete. Five minutes after she saw the email, I was already done so I sent it in and it was perfect. An hour or so later, we had a Client Service Appreciation event where yogurt was provided and there was a raffle with nice prizes. Unfortunately I didn’t win any of the cash or gift card prizes, but my raffle ticket was called when the last prizes were chargers. I figured at least I won something instead of nothing. Today felt like Friday because of how fun it was. I hope tomorrow is as fun as today.

Today marks the end of week 7, and we only have two more weeks left. It feels like this internship went by so fast, but went even faster the second half. I got into work and saw that Amber emailed me with a project checking a quote that she had checked to make sure there were no differences. However, there were quite a few. After I finished checking I went upstairs to show her all of the differences I found. She appreciated it. We later went to lunch. It was me, Christine, Christina, Amber, and Griffin. We planned to go to a Chinese place, but the wait was too long so we went to Frida’s instead. It was really nice just hanging out with them and getting to know them more and getting as much advice from them as I can. When we got back, I took the rest of my Friday to write the rest of my journals and do a few ELearns. Today was a great day. It’s so crazy that we only have two more weeks left.
