REFLECTION
BE YOURSELF
One things that I learned quickly was to not try to be something I'm not. It was understood that I'm an intern, so it isn't expected that I know or even act like I know everything. I was ambitious to learn and people respected that of me. It was also respected how personable I was with everyone. I acted comfortable yet professional around everyone which made me fit in quite well. If you have a great personality, being yourself is the best thing to be.
GO ABOVE AND BEYOND
Throughout the internship, it was stressed that we do more than what was expected of us. Doing that allowed me to be noticed and appreciated when it came to my work. The things I worked on were real projects that people needed done, so going above and beyond with the work I did not only made me look good, but made the company look good. Taking initiative, doing more than what is expected, and doing things to the best of my ability allowed me to stand out.
DRESS TO IMPRESS
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is an extremely large company that dresses professionally. However, my specific branch dresses more business casual. Though i didn't have to, almost every day I went to work in a button-up, slacks, and a tie, and occasionally a suit. I did this because of a saying. "Don't dress for what you are doing, dress for what you want to do." What I want to do is be the head of a large corporation one day, and everyday I dressed like I was one. At the end of the internship, the other employees and executives mentioned how much they appreciated and respected me for dressing up everyday. In the end, it really helped me be noticed
