Today, I officially switched teams. I am now a part of the core team. On Friday, Christine told me to meet with her in the morning so that she can introduce me to the team that I will be working with. I waited until 8:30 to go up so that she could get settled and check her email. When I went up there, she wasn’t even in the office yet, so I figured she doesn’t get in until 9. I did the same process, waiting until 9:15, and when I went up there, she still wasn’t in the office. At this time I took the time to do some ELearns because now I felt like I was just chilling at work. At 10, I went up again, and no Christine. So then I just thought maybe she isn’t coming in today and continued doing ELearns. At 10:30 I went up there for the last time and there she was. She gave me the rundown of what they do, and then introduced me to everyone. She what I gathered, everyone had some work that they would like me to do, causing me to figure this will be a busy 4 weeks. I’m alright with that, though. Christine gave me my first project, having me sort through some policies of a recently taken client, checking to see if we have their policies in our files and in EPIC. After I did that, Amber, a girl on the team, had me change the name of the person behind the client, because it was still under their old broker. She let me know that today had the more tedious work and tomorrow will be more fun. After I did that, she had me close all the activities of a few clients except for certain ones. That was a lot and took some time. However, that is all that today consisted of. All in all, today was a little slow, but I’m ready to take on any project that they have for me.

Today is the day that we went to LACMA. I was hoping that we started the day meeting at LACMA because it doesn’t start until 10:00, meaning I could’ve gotten more sleep, but Leslie wanted us to meet at the office at 8:00 and carpool together at 9:00. I had a good sleep last night so this was alright. When I got into the office, I took this time to do yesterday’s journal and part of today’s journal. Then I did some ELearns until it was time to leave. When we got there, the first thing I noticed was the art with many light poles. I had no idea that that was in California, let alone in Los Angeles. I knew I had to get a picture there. The museum was so beautiful, I can’t even explain. I am a huge fan of art, so this sparked my interests. I felt bad because I was so focused on sucking in all of the art that I wasn’t paying too much attention to what the risk manager and tour guide had to say. It was truly something incredible to see. Before we went to lunch, we got our chance to take pictures at the light poles, and believe me; I took a lot of pictures. We went to a fancy lunch place and the food was amazing. It was mainly time to relax and talk to each other while having a great meal. After lunch, they let us go, and we headed back to the office. When we got back I told Corey about the trip and showed her the pictures I took. Then I worked on finishing up this journal. There wasn’t much time left to really take on a project, so I decided to finish up the day doing some more ELearns. I feel like I’ve done so many of them, yet, I’m only 24% done with the biggest one. To sum up today, I would say it was great. This trip wasn’t too much of a learning experience, but I would definitely say it was my favorite trip.

Today, if I’m going to be honest, wasn’t as productive as I thought it would be. I went up to the team to get a project, and the project that I was given was to scan a bunch of different papers and giving specific names to them. Now, I understand that things needed to be done and it would be a help, so I was still happy to do it. I guess I was just expecting something more. After I was done scanning papers for Christina, Amber had me call people to see if American Residuals and Talent have paid their deductible in each state. Again, this wasn’t the biggest project ever, but it was still cool to be able to be one the phone with people asking if we have been paid. I started this later in the day so most of the people in states from central to the east coast were closed. I got a few west to Midwest states, but not 1 had paid us. I found out that we didn’t have to be paid until the 31st for most of them, so they still had plenty of time to pay us. Most of my calling, though, will have to be finished tomorrow. Hopefully I can get a big project tomorrow as well.

7/13/17

There was an interesting start to the day again. Amber came down to call the California company that insures American Residuals and Talents, because they had a difficult menu to go through on the phone. However, while we were getting ready to call, Roselynn emailed me saying she had an URGENT project for me to do. I got pretty excited because that’s what I want. When I checked the email, she wanted me to print out a bunch of pages for a binder. Joseph was on his way to work and wanted this done so she needed some help. Again, I was very happy to do this for her, but I definitely didn’t expect printing papers to be a project. What surprised me, though, was the amount of papers that it was. She needed 3 copies of everything she sent me. I had to have printed out over 400 pages. When I gave her the pages, everyone seemed to be panicking on organizing the papers, so I decided to help there as well. After I finished my stacks, I saw that Scott Firestone’s door was open. I have been meaning to go in and talk to him for some time now, so I went ahead and did it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t in his office. As I hung out up there for a few more seconds, I heard him say hey to me. I told him I was just in his office looking for him, so he invited me in. We had an extremely good talk and he gave me advice on what I’ve been feeling about the projects that I’ve been doing. He wanted me to report back to him after I do what he wanted me to do. We talked about a lot and he gave me tones of advice. Sometime soon I will probably go on a lunch with him. The day ended with me finishing up all of the calls that I have been working on. The only state that has received money was Massachusetts. No one wants to pay us. The day was fine, but I’m looking forward to a good Friday.

7/14/17

Today is the day that I have been waiting for all week. It still started off iffy, but it started getting better and better as the day went on. Stephen came to me to begin the day with a project of checking the binders and comparing them to the pdf’s and noting any changes. This was quick and easy. I thought it was cool that I got to put my name on the titles as the person who checked it. I scanned the papers and saved it in the file that he wanted. Then he had me do some loss summaries. This is where the projects started to get better. I looked up all of the coverages and the premiums that they had to pay each year for certain coverages, then we were going to figure out what their loss rates were, but we haven’t gotten the loss runs yet, so that is postponed. Christine then had a project for me calling underwriters to check on the status of the quotes for Fox Rent A Car. That was nice getting to be on the phone again with some important people writing notes on what has been done and sharing it with Christine. We then had a talk about the type of projects that I’ve done, and she had decided to give more of a challenging project updating the property submission. The day ended with the lessons learned with the interns and the coordinators. It was a great day and a great end to the week.
