Yesterday was the 4th of July, so as you can imagine, many people were very tired getting into the office today, including me. However, surprisingly, I was much more productive today than I thought I would be. When I checked my email, I saw that Martha emailed me with a project for me to do. Basically, she wanted me to create a spreadsheet for the flood summaries for the months of April 2016-May- 2017. This wasn’t a hard task, so after I did it, I also made it look really organized just to go a bit above and beyond. However, when I finished, I noticed that the month of May 2016 was missing out of the summaries. So I went up to Analie and we talked about it for a bit. She ended up telling me just to let Martha know, but she also had me create a pivot table for it as well as fill in the Orders by Month tab for the section of 2016-2017 with the information that I just created. After some time I was able to finish, but looking at the tab, I noticed that the section for 2015-2016 wasn’t complete. So again, trying to go above and beyond, I asked Analie if it was alright for me to finish that. She really appreciated me taking that initiative. Later, Luis came and gave me a project and after I finished, he walked me through finding out the flood zones for the new buildings. He also taught me a few excel tricks in the meantime. This was a very productive day that I’m really proud about. I will try to go above and beyond with all of the work I do, as I did today.

Today was our Chubb trip and this lasted all day. I’ve never been to that part of downtown. It was so busy and it took many of the interns quite some time to even find where the parking lot, we were supposed to be in, was. Thankfully before I got there, Garret sent a picture of what it looked like. The trip was really fun, though. They taught us a lot of what they do and how they try to build their brand. What I thought was most interesting, as well as true, was how they said that one way to build their brand is to do events like this. We are the agents that recommend carriers to our clients, so for them to do these things for Gallagher, we think of them when deciding who would be best for our clients. That made so much sense, because this goes for even if all of our interns don’t go to Gallagher. We could go somewhere else and we would still think of Chubb. The biggest thing that I know for certain about Chubb is that they pay each loss 100% and in a quick manner. That alone is a great reputation that I would recommend clients to have as their insurance. The only thing is that they could be more expensive, and that is where things will need to be thought over. However, they made themselves known to us and that is a huge thing. After all of our meetings we had a happy hour across the street. It was fun and I can’t explain how good those fries were. Maybe, it was because I was starving, but I was scarfing down those fries. Overall, it was a great day, and I learned a lot.

Today is my last day on the real estate team. It is sad, but I’m excited to learn even more with the core team. Today I took the time to write a special thank you letter to a few team members that I either worked closely with, or had a good relationship with. I wrote one to Martha, Lito, Edytte, Ani, Vickie, Adam, and even Alex. I took all morning writing them. I wanted to make them personal and sincere as I truly had a really good time working with the team. Everyone really enjoyed their letters and that made me really happy. The only one that hasn’t opened theirs yet is Martha because she is on vacation right now. I left her letter on her desk for when she comes back, though. At lunch Jared and Chris took Tino, Garret, Brian, and I out to BJ’s for a mentor/mentee lunch. It was nice with all of us talking to each other and bonding. When I got back I was looking for who I was supposed to meet on the core team because apparently, we were meeting people on our teams today. Marissa helped me find Christine, as she is the one that I will be working under for the next half. She seemed really nice and I’m excited to work with her. She wants me to go into her office Monday morning so she can introduce me to the team. After that I did a few ELearns then got to finishing up all of my journals. It was a short week, but a really good week. Next week starts with a new team and I’m ready.
